How does Vicks First Defence Work?

New Vicks First Defence is a drug-free micro-gel medical device. When sprayed into the back of the nasal passage, the micro-gel formulation creates an environment that cold viruses hate and helps to flush them out in three ways:

1. Traps - the viscous micro-gel flows to the back of the nose and throat, where it traps the virus.
2. Disarms - the trapped virus is unable to attach to the epithelial cells in the nasal cavity.
3. Removes - ingredients on the micro-gel trigger the body to create mucous, thus flushing out the trapped and disarmed viruses.

When Should Vicks First Defence be used?

Vicks First Defence is most effective when used at the early signs of a cold - a tickly sore throat and sneezing are the most common. For optimum results, Vicks First Defence should continue to be used for two days after the symptoms have subsided.

Vicks First Defence can also be used when there is an increased risk of catching a cold, for example on public transport, in the office or when a partner or family member already has a cold.
