A. Yes, D-Mannose does not interfere with other medicines. If you want you can take D-Mannose along with your favourite urinary alkaliniser (eg. Ural Sachets, Citravescent Sachets).

Q. How quickly does D-Mannose work?
A. D-Mannose passes quickly into the urinary tract where bacteria bind to it in preference to the urinary tract wall. If improvement is not seen within 24 hours or the condition has not completely resolved in 48 hours you should see your doctor.

Q. What should I do if D-Mannose doesn't work for me?
A. If you do not have any improvement in 24 hours it is highly likely that the infecting microorganism is not E. coli and we recommend strongly that you seek assistance from your doctor.

Q. I'm pregnant. Can I take D-Mannose?
A. Yes, D-Mannose will not interfere with your pregnancy.

Q. I'm trying to fall pregnant and I've heard that D-Mannose may prevent that. Is it true that D-Mannose has a contraceptive effect?
A. D-Mannose may prevent sperm fertilizing the egg and thus prevent conception. Although we don't fully understand the mechanism by which this happens it is thought that D-Mannose may bind to sperm and prevent interaction with the egg. Further investigation is under way with a view to creating a D-Mannose contraceptive. The contraceptive effect of D-Mannose appears to be short lived however. We recommend that if you are trying to conceive that you avoid the use of D-Mannose for a day before and after intercourse at ovulation time. We do NOT recommend D-Mannose as a contraceptive as we have no reliable data on efficacy.

Q. Will D-Mannose create a yeast problem for me?
A. No. A course of antibiotics often contributes to a yeast problem. D-Mannose does not kill the friendly bacteria that prevent yeast populations growing out of control and is a better treatment choice than antibiotics in most cases.
