Merino Lanolin Skin Crème 500g

Lanolin means wool oil. It is secreted by the sebaceous glands of sheep to give their wool a protective, waterproof coating. Although named an oil, technically Lanolin is more wax-like than oily. The lanolin provides protection and makes the wool water and dirt resistant. Lanolin has a similar protective effect on the skin when manufactured into a cream.

Sheep shearers, a tough, physically fit and somewhat rugged group of individuals all have very soft hands. That's due to the fact that they are handling sheep as part of their daily work and the lanolin secreted into the wool ends up on the hands of the shearers.

Once the wool is harvested by the shearers it goes through several processing stages, one of which leaves behind the by-product, lanolin. This is further refined and made available for the cosmetic industry who then compound it into creams and lotions to make use of its nourishing properties.

New Zealand Merino Sheep are prized for the high quality of their wool and also for the quality of the lanolin. Merino Lanolin Skin crème may be used for dry and cracked skin, on the hands, nipples or where ever it is required. It is suitable for moisturising dry, cracked or scaly skin. Ever popular Merino Lanolin Skin crème is available in a value pack containing 500g.
