Anthisan Antihistamine Cream provides relief from insect bites, stings and contact allergic reactions from plants.

When a substance that the body recognizes as being foreign such as protein from insect saliva after a bite or venom from a sting enters the body, histamine is released. The histamine release sets off a chain reaction where other chemicals are also released and there is an increase in blood flow to the affected part of the body. This defence process has been designed to protect the body but it can also be very uncomfortable as redness, swelling and extreme itchiness are experienced.

To counteract the itchiness and other symptoms of skin allergy an antihistamine tablet may be taken but an antihistamine cream may work just as well. The antihistamine blocks the allergic reaction by blocking the histamine receptors in the affected cells. It doesn't matter if the allergic reaction was initiated by a plant allergy, an insect bite or a sting the treatment is the same – reduce the release of histamine and bring symptomatic relief.

Anthisan Cream contains mepyramine maleate 2% w/w, an effective antihistamine that helps block the allergic reaction by preventing the binding of histamine to cell receptors. Anthisan is not available all countries including Australia.
