The debate rages on in the media... One day vitamins are good for you the next day they are considered a waste of money and time. Why would anyone bother if we get all we need from food? Just what do we get from our food and is it the best quality?

If you are a farmer is your first concern about the nutritional quality of your produce? Probably not. The farmer is in business with all the associated pressures – the vagaries of the weather, the price fluctuations in the market place, the price of fertilizer and the bankers breathing down his neck. In reality the farmer just wants to make a living, pay off the loan and keep the business afloat. Yield per acre is the farmer's concern. The mineral quality of the soil is most likely only considered in relationship to yield performance rather than it's value as substrate for food production.

How many go out to the farm to buy produce? Most of us shop at the supermarket. With modern logistics the time to ship to the supermarket is not that long but there is still a delay from the time of harvesting, packaging, shipping and finally arriving into the store room before being displayed on the shelves.

Perishable products need to be shipped quick or deep frozen. How do the storage conditions and snap freezing affect the nutritional quality. How much nutritional value is left in a highly processed food? How many vitamins are lost just by milling a grain such as wheat?

In our opinion, there are just too many variables to emphatically agree that the nutritional quality of the available food is of a high standard. We recommend vitamin supplementation to support optimal cellular function and good health. For a quick boost an occasional Berocca Performance provides a high dose of B  and C vitamins to support energy levels during times of fatigue or to speed up the metabolism of alcohol. On a daily basis we prefer to have a comprehensive Multivitamin such as Clinicians Vitamin and Mineral Boost.
